These are a nice pair of pants, but they’re not really jeans. They’re very soft and stretchy, almost like a pair of leggings, although they are thicker and aren't as tight. They’re lightweight and fit like a pair of skinny jeans with a zipper fly & button, rear pockets and belt loops, but the material is very soft & smooth and nothing like denim. The Jen7 line was created for women in the 40s who want a modern pair of jeans in a bit less of a contemporary style. One of the main draws of these jeans are their higher rises, however, they didn’t get it quite right. One of the biggest complaints a lot of older women have about jeans are that the waistbands on the trendier styles tend to gap out in back because they have too low of a rise. In order to prevent jeans from dipping down & gapping in the back, the rise has to be higher in the back than the front, and I’m afraid the rear rise of these jeans just isn’t high enough (at least for me). Although these jeans do have a higher rise with more room in the hips, its not high enough in the back, so they still dip and gap. My waist is much smaller than my hips, so this is a common complaint of mine. The curves of my hips and rear pull the jeans away from my body, so the waistband doesn’t fit comfortably or hug my waistline the way I want my jeans to fit. A higher rise in the back would solve this problem. Because of that, I can only give these jeans an average rating, no matter how comfortable I find the rest of the jean. Maybe one size smaller would fit better in the waist and gap less, but I think they would still dip down in the back (maybe even more than the size 8s do) because there’s just not enough coverage in the back. Other than the fit of the waist, I really like the fit everywhere else. They’re a skinny jean but don’t look like they’re painted on, and the ankle length is actually perfect for a shortie like me!
